    Bike for my Wife

Thanks for the comments! My wife does really enjoy it and it is great for getting around town with the three speed coaster rear and the drum brake front. While the paint looks good in the pictures there are a bunch of little errors that I need to clean up. I'll get around to it someday but for...

    Rat to road bike?

Yeah a different stem would look better but for riding 30+ miles my back appreciates the more upright stem.

    Peugeot road bike - FREE

A bmx freewheel would be fine to just thread on in place of the multispeed freewheel. A fixed cog should not be used on a freewheel hub. Click the link in my previous post to get a more detailed explanation with pictures.

    Peugeot road bike - FREE

If you are going to build it into a fixed gear, get a real fixed hub and don't just put a cog on a freewheel hub (It is called a suicide hub for a reason)

Hacksawing a stuck seat-post - yes or no?

Also if the seatpost is aluminum try to lube up the interface between the seatpost and the frame with penetrating oil and then freeze the whole thing. Aluminum has a much larger coefficient of thermal expansion than steel so you are going to have better luck if you can get it cold.

    25.00 road bike

be careful with that bike and threading... it may have french threads for the bottom bracket. if so don't lose the bottom bracket cups as they are expensive to replace. other than that nice score for 25$

    traded 2 for 4 HERCULES

Hercules is an english brand and from most of the hercules that I have seen they were mainly three speeds. Also they were using euro BB's back in the 50s on english bikes

    "C.R.E.A.M."

I would stick with a standard noncolored chain as I think they always look cheap. Your bike looks classy and deserves better. maybe this one instead http://www.chariandconyc.net/blog/shimano-oval-track-chain
