Modern day mountain biking originated in the 60s & 70s with some guys transforming balloon tire cruisers into downhill bombers. “Klunkerz“ are the original mountain bikes. Excelsior frames, Morrow hubs, lightweight components all make for some mean off road machines. Many of our members have aspirations of one day riding Repack and have built some sweet bikes around this dream. Check out our new Klunker Bikes Gallery.
The guys over at BikinginDallas.com recently did a write up on the forum and also created a cool video slideshow of some of the bikes from our gallery section. The song they chose, “Deuces Wild” by Link Wray goes perfectly with these bikes.
A big thanks to Chris for his time and effort in promoting the cause. They’ve got some cool articles that they have written on the bikes in their lives and the places they have been. Stop by their blog and check em out.
Board track style bikes have become a popular build on the forum and it was only right that we give them their own section on our Gallery page. Check out our new Board Track Gallery.
Members of RRB can’t seem to get enough of build offs. During the down time between our big annual Rat Rod Bike Build Off we throw in a couple of unofficial build offs for those folks hungry for competition. There’s no prize involved, just bragging rights and the fun of building and documenting a project….oh yeah, and you usually end up with a really sweet ride at the end. Check out out all of the completed bikes from our “ANYTHING GOES BUILD OFF.”
Our resident welders and fabricators have been itching to enter a build off without any rules or restrictions on bike design. This is their chance to let the creativity fly! This unofficial build off started on October 1st and ends on December 6th. Click here to see the bikes entered so far…
Member midwestthunder asks folks on the forum how they remove grips from bikes that seem glued on. A few folks offered up advice, and we even got a visual that really did the trick. Read more…
