Man, picking a color is really hard. It’s a one shot deal and I do not want to pick a color that I will later regret. I will be meeting with the painter this Saturday and I will discuss the paint options with him. Maybe he can give me some ideas on the best paint and color to use.

thats the first color i thought about, but not sure yet. frame has been at paint shop for a few weeks now. no paint on it yet, because I have not picked one.

My name is Nick, I live in Germany (Berlin) and, being a master student of
engineering, I’m also a big fan of custom bicycles. At the moment I am
working on my own bike and I liked your idea of air ride bike very much.
In order to choose the right cylinder for my bike, I calculated the frame
charge (e.g. the forces that influence the frame) both for my and your
bike. I defined the dimensions of your frame basing on the pictures (taking
the size of the wheel as a basis). Therefore I would like to ask the
following questions.

1. Could you please tell me the exact dimensions of your frame? This would
help me to carry out further calculations for my bike. I am especially
interested in the exact distance between the wheel axles and the dimensions
of the rear fork.

The result of my calculations for your frame is approx. 800-1800N
(N=Newton, I’m not sure, which unit of measurement is used in the US)
including the weight of the rider (750N, means 75kg) and 200N (means 20kg)
for the weight of the frame. While looking for the right model of cylinder,
I found out that all cylinders of the same size as yours (at your
pictures), that are for sale, have lower maximal capacity (approx. 300N)
than the one that I calculated. Therefore:

2. Do you have the exact parameters of your cylinder (cylinder stroke and
maximal force by maximal allowed pressure)?

3. What is the maximal pressure in your paintball tank? What pressure did
you set for your cylinder for riding? And, how many up and down movements
does this pressure allow?


4. How many km/miles have you already made with your bike? Does the
cylinder keep working normally or do you experience problems with it?

I hope that my explanations are clear enough. Please don't hesitate to ask
in case I missed something.

1. size of a dyno roadster
2. 6-7 inch stroke
3. the max will be at what your tank is allowed. pressure is set at where you want it.
4. no more than 5 miles. the bike stays in my shop all year.

note: cylinders come in many different sizes. get the one that best fits your frame.
