I was scared nobody wanted to tell me how sketchy my headset set-up looked. I went on the Roadbike forums and they said its imposible to make a threaded fork work with a threadless headset. Looks like I showed them. Hopefully it doesnt fall apart while riding :shock:

It should look a lot better when its all powder coated the same color as the frame. That way it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb. I can say this, I feels 10x smoother than a threaded headset! Its worth the money!

I had a little bump in the road and didn't think that it could even be done, but a trip to the bike shop solved that.

I have one of those thread to threadless adapters, but it is too narrow up top for most threadless stems.
I will probably end up doing the same thing on FlexLiner 7. The clubman bars that I have can't pass through a normal stem.

I used a 1" stem and coke can shimmed it to fit tight 8)

My problem is at the other end. The upper section is too small for the threadless stems that I have.

Right, i'm talking about the top end also. I coke can shimmed my stem to fit to the extension. But mine wasn't that far from fitting.

They don't know nuttin'........I've been using these type of adapters for years.

You've probably got a 1" threaded to 1" threadless adapter. You can get 1" threaded to 1 1/8" threadless adapters, or a pre-made alloy shim/spacer to make a 1 1/8" threadless stem fit onto an 1'' threadless stem. Most half decent bike shops should have, or be able to get these parts....otherwise, check out Amazon or some of the online shops.

A lot of roadies say stuff like that because they spend a lot of money to have their bikes fixed :lol: :lol:
All kidding aside,the desire to make stuff work that shouldn't is what ratting is about,right?
I am a roadie(when I'm on my road bike)and am going to use a threadless 1" headset on a threaded steerer myself.
A little thought and know how goes a long way :!: Good job :wink:
