    San Juan Special * 6/9 - springer*

I've been a member on RRB for almost 3 years now, and have watched with envy the last two RRB build-offs along with all of the other, smaller build-offs. I think I've finally got the time to get involved and do a build-off bike of my own. I'm starting with an old Electra frame. My plan is just...

    Winter Cruiser

I'm currently living in Wisconsin and would like to keep riding a bike in town during the winter. However, all the bikes in my collection are too dear to me to let road salt and slush get all over 'em. So, I picked up this USA-built Murray "Siesta Key" today dirt cheap. It will be my winter...

    Electra Rally Sport

I saw this Electra Rally Sport 3-speed on CL for a $XXX O.B.O. I told my dad about it and he said go check it out. Turns out the bike is in like-new condition and has barely been ridden. It still has the mold flashing down the center of the tires. Anyway, for the price of a Walmart cruiser I...

    Schwinnster

I bought this '60 Speedster a couple days ago from fellow RRB member "economessed". I would like to clean up some of the surface rust without damaging the paint too much. I know it can be done, but I can't seem to find the right posts on how to do it. Anyway, once that is done I'm going to tear...

    Unintentional Rat

I bought this unmarked cruiser a few months back. After a little research it turns out it's supposed to be an early Jamis Earth Cruiser. I decided I was going to tear it down and give it an '80s BMX feel when rebuilding. Well, I tore it down and started stripping the paint when life interrupted...

Wife's Fresh Find Schwinn w/Bendix Automatic

My wife is back in Wisconsin and found this beauty 1964 Schwinn American today at a rummage sale. I'll probably swap out the kick-back hub for a single speed coaster brake and flip it. Cool headbadge

Need a 19 or 20 tooth sprocket for my "bomber"

I would like to swap out the rear sprocket for either a 19t or 20t. Leaning towards a 20t. Stock gearing is 38/16. The wheel came stock from Trek and the coaster brake hub is branded Promax(never heard of it). The only 20t sprockets I've found are Sturmey-Archer and I'm not sure if they'll work.

    Unknown Black Cruiser(Jamis Earth Cruiser?)

I picked this up yesterday at one of the local antique shops. The price tag read "standard bike", which I thought was a funny description. Anyway, There is a serial number, but no other markings as to who manufactured this one. It seems obvious it's an '80s cruiser and the only guess I've got is...

Funny!! Just noticed the "Fixed Gear Bikes" header

I just noticed the "new" header. At first I thought "What the ...?" and then remembered the date. Too funny! *edit* I also just noticed this was mentioned all the way down in "The Other Talk" section. I usually don't look in there.

    Great moment for a dad

About a year ago my folks bought my two little girls (almost 2 and 3-1/2 at the time) each an old 20" Schwinn Bantam. The price was right and they wanted the girls to have their own little cruisers. Those two bikes have just been sitting around while my youngest has been riding her Schwinn...

Surprise Electra gift from M&D :)

A few weeks ago I bought my wife an Electra Deluxe cruiser. I have a Deluxe Relic, and have been wanting to pick up the candy red version for myself. Anyway, my folks are into cruisers and they've got a few Electras and also know how much I wanted the red guys Deluxe. Yesterday I got a nice...

    Need handlebar measurement

I'm hoping someone can help me out. I need to know how wide stock Typhoon, Fleet, etc.style handlebars are. I'd like to pick up new bars and what I think is closest to stock is a Wald that is 23" wide? Thanks in advance. :)

Can you ID this Murray-built cruiser?

In my area, old bikes for sale are pretty hard to come by. I've seen this one way out behind someone's shed for awhile, but haven't had the opportunity to stop and ask about it. I zoomed way in to get this picture and I can tell two things...first, I can't hold a camera very still and second...

    New Electra for my wife

I know...it's not ratty, rusty, or flat black. :o It's the new Electra Deluxe I bought for my wife yesterday. This one had been hanging out at the LBS for a couple seasons. Apparently, nobody wanted it because it was a single-speed. This year it ended up being a lighted Christmas decoration...

Holiday greeting card from New Belgium

Back in July my wife was a lucky winner of a 2009 New Belgium Schwinn cruiser through their online daily bike giveaway. New Belgium not only gave her the bike(shipped free) but also gave her a $50 gift certificate to use at a Schwinn dealer of our choice. Life goes on as usual. Last week my...

Need quick help...What's right & wrong on this bike?

Leaving in an hour or so to go check out this bike. BF Goodrich badged frame looks to be Schwinn. Fork/truss rods don't look like they belong on this bike but I'm not sure. Chainguard looks aftermarket(Wald?). Obviously the seat is wrong. Any help on what is right and/or wrong about this bike...

'78 Good Vibrations (serial number question 3/27)

Driving by the local antique strip mall today I noticed a few "new" bikes in with the normal worthless lot they have. Saw a cantilever framed bike and turned around to see what it was. Turned out to be this Huffy Good Vibrations that seems to be all original(minus fenders?). The bike cost about...

    Roadmaster Skyrider

This is my wife's Roadmaster Skyrider. I figured it was a mid-sixties bike, but after some research I'm left scratching my head. I've seen several other nearly identical bikes listed as being 1957 or 1958 models on up to the mid-sixties. Anyone have an idea? The headbadge says AMF Roadmaster...

    Murray-built Hiawatha Serial # help?

I had this posted in my "Fresh Finds" thread, but no help yet. Is there any way to narrow this down to a particular year with the serial number, or is it just a guessing game? Looks like it is WG3605 1 173432
