    Yard Sale Find

The old man is excited today! :D Ladies Firestone Cruiser. Great front fork, tail light housing, chain guard, . . . I want the rear rack. Expect I'll part out the rest. Will post photos in "For Sale" soon. Now I need a nap, before disassembly.

Bicycle Porn & Evelyn-my project bike

I receive Bicycle Porn on Facebook. Nice bike photos several times a week. (I think someone from here has something to do with it) Last photo was a bike made by Huffy. A comment explained how to decode part of the serial number. Evelyn is a 1975 model, same age as my son. At my age it isn't...

    Need reccomendations - spoke wrench

I'm taking the plunge- going to relace Evelyn's wheels (She's an early 70's Huffy 26 in. middleweight). Have everything I need but a spoke wrench, so I go shopping on line. Anywhere from $0.69 to $40 ! Lots of different sizes. What would you use? Thank you !

    Black & Blue Bomb done . . .

Compared to the bikes I see here this is a little pathetic, but my 2011 Cranbrook mailorder build is on the Cranbrook thread. In my defense, it's my first build since the early 80's, I can't dumpster dive or cruise looking for parts anymore. I like it, I tried to ride again today. I'm getting...

    New York state alert

I just read New York is considering an annual bicycle tax and license plates, under bill AO529. I hope my info is obsolete, but I can't sit still, because Illinois and many other states would love the idea of taxing bikes while corporate jets are deductable. Elmer in Illinois.

Coke bottle grips for 1 inch bars

I checked out the CABE today, after spending some time here. A fellow suggested checking Ebay for coke bottle grips to fit modern handle bars. They are sold for Harleys. I went to Ebay, through RRB, of course, and found grips for under $10 & FREE shipping! A highly reccomended seller to boot. I...

    Who's the oldest member ?

A few days ago I had an epithany. I love the classic board track racers, but I never knew what they were called til I saw them here. My memory is shot, but I finially remembered I built a "racer" in 1973. Late in high school I had bought a bunch of new parts to restore a pre-war tanker with...

A very short, beaded bow pedal how-to.

    A great little how-to. I loves glass reflectors. :D

    Vintage Accessory

Thought some of the younger folks would enjoy my take on a Vintage Accessory. I have friends looking for an authentic 50's clothes pin. These new ones are skinny & too clean.

    Evelyn

At auction I got Evelyn for $9.00. 26 in Huffy middleweight. I think she'll make a fine board track racer. I can't get around well enough to dumpster dive, yard sale, etc., but auctions have been good to me.

    Raleigh 10 speed ???

I bought a bike at auction for the bell & rear rack. It's a Raleigh 10 spd, large frame, made in Nottingham, England. How do I date it? The bell is a Raleigh & the alloy rack was Swiss made. Those 2 parts would cost me $50 for lesser new ones (plus freight). I paid $5, bike & all.

    Hello everyone

My name is Elmer. I'm 58, divorced & had a couple of strokes, so I don't get around so good. I lost my home & my car before I got approved for disability. Now I have a nice apartment & I decided to build a bike. I wasn't sure what a rat rod was. I started to build a customized cruiser. Yesterday...
