I just have to concentrate on finishing. Way too early for any of us to worry about votes Mr noneven trade. (just to be clear, this is just a play on the your name, Odd = Noneven and Job = Trade)

The cheaper hammered silver is looking to be a darker hue than the hammered antique pewter I tried before. The contrast may be good. We'll have to wait til it drys. Gonna paint the frontfender and other skirt with the pewter now.

The hammered paint actually dried fast while I was working on the moonies.
Slapped the darker hammered silver fender and skirt on the rear.
But I am liking the lighter hammered antique pewter that I put on the front fender and other skirt better.
It's a shame I don't have another set of these WF/Hawthorne skirts. This reminds me of that killer build that's been out there on the interewebs from @Mr.E. Builder

I just have it this way for color comparison.

I agree on the pewter, the lighter shade matches the frame better.

Yeah, it also matches the racktank better too.
I still haven't decided what level of polish, no polish,or selective polishing that I am going to do on the frame.
 
Maybe a reverse aging thing.
How steel frames rust at the joints, but instead do it backwards. Leave the frame dull, but polish the joint and seam areas?

I even thought of selective polishing like frame darts
 
Suggestion. I'm wondering how it would look if the fenders matched (as much as possible) the patina and colors on the racktank. You would have to start with a red base coat under the pewter and then strategically rub through to get the effect. Then, think about the darts in the imitation gold and black colors to match the lettering. Just throwing out ideas.
 
I could see polishing some bits of the frame, masking them, and then bead blasting it for that smooth, aluminum sheen everywhere else. Edit: even better would be to replicate heat-discoloration on the ends of the tubes, if you're still leaning toward a lakes/ speed record feel.

Yeah, I've studied that racktank too and depending on time availble and experiementation, I may give that a try. The scrap fender piece has a red undercoat for that very reason.

I don't think I would go as far as trying to match the lettering though. That is actually just masking tape that Gaskill black shadowed, cut out, and shellacked. I've done striping with masking tape before when I striped starsNbars.

I'm still going for the salt flats vibe, but I'm not to worried about getting stuck too deep in a theme. Main goal is to try to make it look cool and have fun doing it. The frame us pretty crusty in spots and I still haven't decided if I try to incorporate that or clean it further and polish it more.

Right on. And BTW, I'm actually a fan of the chainguard. Even more so if you could ventilate it under each rib a little to reinforce the visual tie to the skirts.

Tough call.
I like the back fender, but I do think the front pewter matches bike better.
Looks better without the chain guard..hate to admit it..cuz I was really hangin' in for that... it's such a beauty...
and, finally, if it was my bike, (which it isn't , but I wish it was)...:happy:
I think I'd try to polish / clean up that wee bit of rust up front, its really not adding anything at this point.
