My wifee didn't like the way her bike looked, but didn't want a new one.
She just wanted her old one repainted.
I would have gladly bought her something fresh as opposed to spending my last two day off re-doing this thing.
'80s Roadmaster.
This must be the luckiest bike around....lucky it wasn't melted down for the metal.
A dime a dozen.

Came out looking pretty good.
Detuned it from a 10 to a 5 speed.
Ground down the teeth of the outer chain-ring and turned it into a chainguard.
Chrysler engine red, red-line Electra tires, alloys, black cable housing, new pedals, cooler beverage holder and a tail-light.

Took it apart late on a Wednesday and made final adjustments mid-day Friday.
To give it a little credit, it's actually a pretty good rider.
I put about 80 bucks in it, which my wifee thought was a lot of money.

If your wife is like mine (and most others), she was not wanting to spend money for another bike, just fix it up a little. Mine doesn't understand the cost of a little..... but she is working on her education!

I have bought her three bikes, an Electra Hawaii, A 68 Schwinn Starlet III, and a 66 rat hollywood. The last one mentioned is sitting until her education is a little further completed! I need to change the wheel/tire setup on it....

The one you did turned out nice!

Greetings fellow San Antonian! Good work on the paint. I'd be happy to take the old whitewall tires off your hands if you are not going to use them for another project.

Thanks!
These are the Electra "Street Racer" tires actually, I think.
The red line "Retro Runners" have gone extinct, I think also.
I tried to get some.
This was my option for a red-line.
Good looking tire.
Moderately priced.

She really likes this bike now and she's been riding it everyday.
I fitted the flimsy caliper brakes with some V-brake shoes.
They work TOO good for the rigidity of the calipers.
...and I put on some alloy brake handles.
She says it seems a lot lighter and faster.

A true hot rod. 8)
