sticker residue removal....

ive always used a piece of denim and some WD-40 (nector of the gods) to remove sticker residue, anyone have a better way they would like to share?

Goo Gone spray gel works really well...they sell it at Target

The denim is interesting. I use what ever shop rag I have & w/ wd-40

I use Goof Off for tons of stuff. Degrease the range hood, remove paint, stickers, on and on.

The stuff's nasty though. I thnik you get a contact high off it without good ventilation.

i use denim cuz its more abrasive than shop rags or old t-shirts, but it doesnt scuff paint or chromoly. goo gone, ill grab some next time im at target, thanx guys,

acetone sometimes soaking a rag with windex and holding it over for 5 or so minutes will work also

I think that orange oil is a large component to the Goo Gone magic.

In Europe we get this stuff in an aerosol in supermarkets...

Spray it on, leave it 2min, wipe all the sticker gunk off with a damp cloth. Brilliant stuff.

i have a bit of acetone in the garage, i always thought that would be too harsh for chrome finish or chromoly steel? ill give it a go on a test peice. thanx for the advice guys!

i just use alcohol, mostly rubbing alcohol, vodka taste to good and is way to exspencive to use on a bike. but really i just cleaned up some left over sticker stuff off a frame with some hand sanitizer i "borrowed" from work. its like 70% ethyl alcohol and it works really well!

Alcohol works good. Cuts through the residue without messin up the finish.It can be used over laquer and not hurt the finish. Denatured is the cheapest I think. 8)
