Hey guys, so this will be the first real build that me and my buddy Jakob are going to do together. The first two builds were pretty simple and rather silly. This one is pretty silly, but we're hoping to make it as sweet as possible.
The head tube angle is a bit ridiculous... but I think we can work it out.
Sorry for the cell phone pictures, but it's all I have right now.
Started out with a girls Huffy Dash 10 speed frame. Chopped it up in my workshop and headed out to Jakob's shop.
Jakob and I took some time mocking up the ride height we wanted and getting the frame as square as possible.
I might have gotten a little carried away with the head tube angle... but we'll work with it for now.
From here we decided that we might as well do something else pretty silly, so we cut the stem up and mounted a steering wheel to it.
So this is what it looks like at the moment. I have another donor frame that we'll use for the bottom bracket, which will be mounted on the down tube about 3/4 of the way up. Originally I wanted to mount the seat right on the seat stays, but any rider would be too cramped. So we'll be mounting the seat a few inches higher along the back wheel.
We're still in the process of deciding whether to go trike or bike. If we go trike, we'll run major negative camber. Our goal is to have the tops of the wheels just barely kissing. Of course, if we run negative camber (especially that much), how do we run a drivetrain? Well, we're still brainstorming that.
If we stay bike, we want to build a trailer to run behind, or a sidecar. We've been discussing getting two small electric motors and mounting them in front and behind the seat tube, and running a direct line to the back wheel. We'd utilize the trailer for two batteries that would run the motors.
Anyways, it's still in the very, very early stages, but I am very excited for this.
Comments and critiques are more than welcome!
