Now that I have an erasable canvas, that would actually be relatively easy to layout. However. I've done yellow and black mockups in the past and the problem I always have with them is that everyone's first impression is "bumblebee" or "wasp" or "yellowjacket" and not Mooneyes. I'll dwell on it and maybe even test the idea on my sacrificial fender if I have time. But in my opinion and experience, yellow and black just don't work well for me.

are you going to have a painted firewall?

I was planning too, but as the build progressed, the space between the body and the engine ended up being close where it just doesn't make sense to have a firewall, since it couldn't really be seen.
But those checkered firewalls look so cool.

I especially like the paint on the white car here.

You could try the cigar-chomping woodpecker mascot from Thrush mufflers. It's just as iconic as the Mooneyes.

The Thrush muffler woodpecker is different. The more iconic one that you are talking about is the Mr Horsepower Clay Smith Cams cigar chomping woodpecker.

I completely missed page 34! I love the chalkboard paint idea and all your colors. I can't draw worth a hoot, if it was me, I would get a bunch of shapes and stencils I could trace around and fill in with color.

Super creative idea! I also like both the Fink additions....it doesn't get much Rat Finkier'n this one!!

That pesky Rat Fink shows up in the oddest places....even at our bike shop a couple years back....

On a differnt note, check out this cool sculpture one of my poker friends installed in their courtyard. We went over for drinks last night and I think this is wicked.

It's raining today, so may not get any paint done.

Went to install the Rat Fink sprocket and discovered the crank didn't have enough threads for me to use a need spacer. So I'm switching to one of my trusty 3G/Phat cranks.

Took it for a test ride with the chainguard to make sure of clearances. All worked well.

I got a phone in the middle of adjusting the rear wheel. When I came back I couldn't find my 15mm wrench anywhere! Can you help me? :D

Chalkboard paint on the Rat Fink sprocket. It's gonna be fun chalking up this one.

Did a tear down of the bike. Wire brushed the frame and sanded it during the rain.

I still need to tape up the chainguard to chalkboard most of it. Hopefully I can get some painting between rains tomorrow.

Oh yeah, and if you didn't know yet, Brother @Jake Sensi just started a coppertone caddy build in his 13th RRB Build Off in a row.

Finished taping up the chainguard so that it can get the chalkboard treatment tomorrow. Keeping the holey scallop on the front and back bare aluminum. The rest will be chalkboard.

Had to elevate my urban paintbooth game. The frame color is gonna be primer red.

Crazy rain last night spotty rain today. Couldn’t have come at a worse time for paint booth shenanigans

I agree. I painted the guard at first light. Not much more painting left to do thankfully.
