Got the engine taped up and ready to paint once I get a break in the rain.

The masking of the holey scallop worked well. However, i wasnt willing to sand prep this super rare chainguard for paint prep. I had a feeling the paint would only lightly adhere to the raw aluminum. And sure enough, it scrapes off relatively easily. I'm fine with that though. After install, I'll do some fauxtina rubbing and scratching to blend it in with the bike. I'm also fine with stripping the black from it and running it raw. The speed rails will be left raw. I think it's a good contrast.

Also playing with an idea on the mickey supercharger. I may paint a flying eyeball instead of mounting the rat fink head

The engine really dressed up nicely with the paint.

I eyeballed the flying eyeball idea and quickly said no.

This black is what everything needed. It really makes a huge difference on how the motor flows with the car body too. I'm loving this vibe!

Snoopy had to check out the action too

Well, as far as I can tell, I've painted everything that needs it. May start some assembly tonight after dinner.

We have a roller no more daylight and I am worn out. I'll pick back up on this in the morning

Realized I still haven't even seen the black car body with the primer red frame. So I went back out for a few pics with night mode on my camera

Good morning all! I overslept just a little, but now ready for a long day of reassembly of Speedfish Special. Still have to work out the chalk art for it too. And get out for pics without rain. This is gonna be a long day. I'm hoping I can get to pics by the end of the day, and keep tomorrow morning as an emergency backup. We'll see how the day goes. Best of luck to everyone that is still building and tweaking there rats. Time for me to go out back and GTB! Cheers brothers and sisters!

I started to jump right in on the work, but first wanted to see the frame and tank together in daylight.

Love this fink ring. Switched pedals.
Gonna be tricky installing this and the chain without getting grease on the chalkboard.

Cranks and pedals installed with no grease on paint. Success. :D

I've never seen a more robust coaster brake strap than this. I guess if your cycle truck is loaded up you want to stop well.

There is a line on top of the body around the outside of the firewall area, think it should be checker board to match the wheel.........Curt

Yeah, that cowl area could work well with that idea.

We have a complete drivetrain now with no grease on the paint.

And I love the iron art of this kickstand.
