Thanks chattymatty, pick and junknutz!

Here are the pics of the steering damper setup...

Jasper, that's a very interesting idea on the steering damper! How does it feel when your actually riding and turning?

It feel great actually, a perfect amount of damping and now I can ride no-handed with no problem ( wasnt able to before on this bike). Granted the damper has very little tensions all things considered. I guess I was really lucky to find it in an alleyway lol.

That is what rat rodding is all about. Turning trash into treasure.

Yup gotta love free stuff! I named that bike "Dumptracker" because I actually found the bare frame in a dumpster as well! /End threadjack...:)

As with the drop outs & traction bars, I like to make a prototype based on the computer drawings. The drawings get close, but the 3-D pattern fills in the blanks as it comes together.

Again, the material is a composite aluminum. None of this will be used except as patterns for the real parts.

Here's the prototype for the seat pedestal...

This is looking straight down on it. It will use standard rail clamps.

I found my frame in the trash too, LBS threw it away. Handlebars I got with a bike lot I traded a trash find for, Only thing so far I actually got with cash are the rims which I took off a bike I bought then swapped them with another set and sold the bike and broke even so I consider them free too.

Seatpost is looking sweet. With the holes it does remind me a little of the one that @Fisch did a couple of years ago.
How are you strengthening it? Is there something hidden, or is it stronger than it looks?

Thanks again everyone!

I finally found the bike that you're talking about (here) and your right, that's wild!:crazy2:

As for the strength, I'll probably make it out of steel and weld it on since the rules allow it this year. Of course, I could make a plate to bolt under the seat stays to sandwich it together like I did on Southern Flyer last year, but there's really no good reason to do it that way now. (I love the non-restrictive freedom of this years rules!)

Here's better picture that shows whats going on under the saddle...

I switched gears today (pun intended) and started rebuilding the Bendix two speed. Just got as far as taking it apart. I'll soak everything in kerosene tomorrow and get it back together later this week when I can work it in.

This thing is an impressive little piece of engineering! Anybody else out there done this? If so, got any tips that I need to know while I've got it apart?
