I am liking the sound of that leaf... And just a light spray of clear coat... I know it tends to go off color later... That is what someone has done to all the chrome parts on justified,and it is a pain to get off.

Ah, I see now! That should be perfect and a light protective coat would be all you'd need, if anything, since those areas should be fairly well protected from impact or scratching.

Fat and skinny is a combo I can't get away from. I just love the dragster look. The front rim needs some lovin and the whole rear wheel is just a place holder, so is the fork. That rear tire is a keeper and I now know the new headset fits. One of the series above shows my new sprocket, big thanks to @Pookie42, another square shooter. I'm not a big restoration guy but the correct sprocket always looks killer on a rat bike IMO especially if it's iconic like the Silver King.

So today I tried on a landing gear fork. I think it's good until something better comes along.
I do have a chrome Schwinn style repop springer. But no, just no...

Like the idea about the leafing. I wonder how boiled linseed oil would work over it?

I doubt linseed oil is the finish I'm after. I'm polishing it to a shine first, then the leafing... like a gilded picture frame. But between the gold and the copper, I'm hoping to create a patina that has never existed before. Worst case scenario I wipe it all off and have a polished frame.

Daring idea. I like it and can't wait to see the result.
I've been polishing on my frame. Took a break to work on the aluminum sprocket. It's way lighter than the smaller steel one next to it, and even though it's not done it's just as shiny as the chrome.
I love these 80 yr old parts.

A search for 'aluminum fork' on ebay turns up some pretty interesting designs. Usually road forks, if you are going to run a skinny up front would be pretty appropriate...and you can polish them up to match the frame.

I'm hoping I can scrape up enough cash to get a chrome repop Monark springer, or enough parts of one to convert the chrome landing gear I have.
I'm done polishing with the red rouge, on to the white compound.

Quick update. I've got a line on part of a Monark springer. Well, actually the whole thing, but the fork is bent. BUT I'm pretty sure I can mount the whole springer half on the landing gear, rockers and all. Should look pretty cool, I hope to have it in hand soon. Now, back to polishing...
