Yup.
I want the wheels to look like something from Stargate.

It's a ridiculous idea, but WTH.
Getting the water to settle vertically is going to be an issue. But I do love me some Stargate.

Merle.

... I've been designing a bike for a couple years.
I've asked a few guys here for advice on how to go about it, got some good advice.

If I attempt a build this year, I may as well go big.
Here's my rough sketch from two years ago.

Hubless???????? Very interested and would be following that. My engineering mind races.....

so would you try a rim inside a rim, or a trio of rollers (or more) inside the rim?

I would do a carrier style and source a large bearing set. Robotic gimbals and aviation come to mind as sources for large bearings

The idea in my head is to have plates cut for the sides and use a series of roller bearings to carry the actual rim.
Similar to what Fordsnake and OneHorsePower mocked up for their attempts.

My metal guy can cut the sides on the plasma table, and I'm trying to source bearings.
In the drawing, the bearings will be hidden behind the tabs. Just have to figure out a way to mount them so the tube valve clears.

I'm in, I've been saving a Color-Flow and a Sliver-King.

Can't wait to see your Color-Silver-Flow-King build! That should be cool!

Mm never considered putting them together in to one build, don't know if I could I'm kind of a stickler for original bikes and both of mine are almost %100 OG. Decisions decisions :39:

I actually have a full plan for this one. Ive been experimenting with many ideas and have been collecting parts. I still need some things and will be splurging on a powder coating. Its still gonna be basically a bolt together bike. A little cutting, drilling and tapping here and there is all but doing something new I havent tried yet. Ive already sacrificed two bikes for certain parts. Heck No I cant wait much longer

I'm still thinking about building a gravel grinder but using a a cruiser frame instead of using my 1993 rigid chromo mountain bike frame. The mountain bike frame is sweet as it has a long wheel base and feels like a cruiser when you ride it, but I want something different. The idea would be to build a single speed using a 1950s frame. I dug out all my rims and tire combos and the best I have is 1.5 x 26 inch knobbies so these would fit the old frame. I also have a set of 26 x 1 3/8 coaster wheels and tires but they probably won't fit the fork canti mounts. The tires are also pure road tires and I don't want to buy anything. I'm thinking about 36 x 23 gearing with a Shimano coaster and MAFAC canti front brakes. I would use one of my chromo mountain bike forks on it. I should not have to buy anything. I could heat a set of cruiser bars and bend them into a flared semi drop. I would like to build this quick and race it in the June Hiawatha's Revenge Gravel Grinder. I can't decide if I want to race the 30 mile or 100km version. 100km for me would be just a survival ride. No way would I sign up for the 100 mile version as they would have to use the calendar to time me. I have a Juncker head badge. It could be the "Junker Klunker Juncker Maggot Cross Gravel Grinder", Ha.

Cool idea. Classic Klunker. I know you don't want to buy anything but fatter tires will fit many old frames...
