no need to water this year, mother nature provided more than enough. it's been a wet summer. rained so much i have moss growing in the driveway cracks. I'll take a burnt lawn that doesn't need mowing any day.

i popped some rivets into a cheap seat last night and put it on this bike. i like it.

You darn east coast guys have the greenest lawns !!! I just cant afford a $300 dollar water bill every two months

Ian is right- mother nature has given us more than enough rain for a while up here! We don't EVER water our lawn, especially this year- only two weeks ago it was going on to be the rainiest year on record for us, EVER. I don't know if we beat the previous record (only needed two inches more...) but the last one was set in 1938, and there was a considerable hurricane that year. Be careful what you wish for!

Took these three out tonight, for a ride. Thought I get a "together "pic.

I know this is a really old post but I was looking for other Hiawathas to compare mine to. Do you still have the 48 Hiawatha and do you have a picture of it that I can compare mine to?

Thanks

I just took another look at this thread and realized the stable has changed in 1 1/2 years. (Wow! 1 1/2 years!)
I'm gonna have to post another pic as soon as the rain stops and I can get the family to pose again.
As of now it's-
Grateful Red, an alloy 3 speed cruiser built from the frame up,
The chrome Lowrider
The Electra
The Schwarthorne
The Diamondback Kalamar
Ole Reliable, my first ratrodbike, a Derby
the Brown 3 speed Webster Earth Cruiser
The Black and silver Ape webster Murray
The Fisher Klunker
The 1939 Murray Mercury
The Jamis Shore Taxi
My hardtail mountain bike, another frame up scratchbuild
My Mongoose Wing Pro, a full suspension mountain bike
and an assortment of donors and parts bikes. The First 8 are the "A-Team" and get ridden the most. It's funny, but the most "advanced" bike in the stable, my full suspension, gets ridden the least and might be the next one on the block..
And I still read Craig's List every day...you never know! 8)

I only have 2.......2 many that is.....I think the count is around 30 give or take. The greatest hits are:
'58 Schwinn American
'52 Schwinn Wasp
'50's Hawthorne
year unknown Hercules Flat black Camel back Board track
and a Peugeot folding bike soon to become a Rat Rod.

And a little less on the rat side I also have a Mosh Method 24 inch BMX.

Say Cheese...

Is the paint on this frame original? Looks like a Huffman built fork and I'm working on a 16" Huffman Klunker (I'll get some pics together soon).

If the paint is original and you have any closeups I would love to see them.

Sorry for the slight hijack.

I'll post some pics of the stable sometime soon too.

Thanks.

Bruce

Thanks.

that's an unknown fork I bought on Ebay (I knew what it was when I bought it, but can't remember now). It was green, and I masked off the stars and spear and shot it matte black. And as far as I know the frame is an early 40s DX. At least that's what people on this forum told me when I originally posted it. It is painted with a brush and not original either. I just sanded and cleared it.

I've since outlined the white spears with black. you can see the fork better in this photo too.

I see my bike had a headlight at some point. Did you or Dan gank it? :D If you, do you still have it?

hey baron. what tires and size are those on the green bike? super cool

They are 26 x 1 3/8 (ertro 37x590), which used to be a standard road bike size. They are original for this AMF middleweight. I think the ones I used are Raleigh tyres.

Wow Baron, I love that green bike!! Great colour!! More pics?

Here, pics of mine, some gonne, others took their place...

Here: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=37506

is pretty much half of the story.

I got that frame off the evilbay and had it shipped over to Blighty at considerable cost. Little did I know at the time, that not a darn thing is compatible with your regular balloon bike cruiser. Those middleweights are truly in a world of their own. Not only didn't I really know what to look for, it was unavailable outside the US anyway. The bike has cost me a considerable chunk out of my life and I do have white temples ever since.
