Hey I just bought the MODE 540 yesterday. I saw it and fell in love so far so good. The 3 piece crank feels as good as my $350 two hip bikes. the hand grips are the best I have owned. I Love the bike. I haven't road it too hard yet but it is well worth $150. I can toss some pictures up if anyone would like.

Okay so the break isn't the best. and it feels like something is already going in the crank. I should know better to not buyy a walmart bike but it was soooo .... sexy. and the one i got was black and red 149.

That fixxie frame looks like an old Thruster tri power bmx with that bar going though the middle of it, must be a bike behind it. Looks cool.

Mongoose Mode 540 BMX I saw yesterday for $149 in the store but online they have it for $159, it looks like a normal size bottom bracket but it has a 3 piece crank and they had another one that costs less because there are a few differences.

Sorry for the pics not looking too great but I had to hurry up & go.

That mongoose I returned the bike and got a real bmx bike. I will not try a "wally world" bike again.

I would say you bought a Mongoose AT Walmart and The blame would be put on Mongoose model #_____ rather than Walmart. Just like Schwinn and other companies have cut corners on building particular models FOR the people who do not want to pay top dollar for top quality bikes.
I have a friend in California who is 225lbs and he rides a little 20" "bmx bike" like he is crazy. he pounces on the thing and has it crying for mercy. He refuses to admit that it was not built for a person of his size. It was built for a 92lb 15 year old kid.

I always cruise by the bike dept. when I'm at W/Mart, and they never have anything new or COOL like I see you guys post. Well today this is what I found ! Yikes  (there just getting new racks) Maybe some new stuff !

Are those the racks that they are getting or getting rid of? I ask because those are the old racks, the new ones pull out, they are pretty cool.

Those are the old ones, They had bikes stuck everywhere ! I would think this would be a week night project and not on a Sunday in the middle of the day . :?

Ran across the Genesis 32" bikes on the Walmart web site. After researching store availability to find to look at, it appears that only certain store location are stocking them. Found a store location about 30 miles away, so we took a short road trip. Anyway they had a white one that pretty scratched up and showing signs of setting outside in weather. So it had pre-purchase rust started. Pretty clean looking bike for the price. The geometry was pretty comfortable.
With a few upgrades and some Kustom touches one of them might serve as next years Rat Rod Build Off bike...hopefully the tires would outlast the hardware. Not sure what brand the rear hub was. I did see one of the Thruster tires that had been skidded with in a LBS. The rubber or vinyl tread had just peeled away.
I may try to run down a different color or order one. They are different to say the least. I have also yet to see anyone riding one. Fitting on a bike carrier is probably another issue.

Like I said, we probably had 20-30 in our store, now there are 2. Our store mostly serves this city and a bike doesn't move (or stand still) that I don't see, and I have yet to see one show up on the road. So weird.

Took another longer road trip today and found orange, green, blue and white ones. They were hanging in the back storage room. One of the clerks was nice enough to get a couple down and bring them out for me to look at, green and orange. The lime green is somewhat metallic. The orange was a bit towards the red side. Ended up hauling the green one home. I had to use one the adapter bars to get to hang on and fit my carrier. Probably not going to fit my pickup bed carrier.

The decals are over the finish so removable, nice finish. The rear hub is a KT. The tires measure 32". The cranks are low quality. Pedals aren't to bad, I had the same ones come on a bike shop major brand bike. Quick release seat clamp. Bar are big will probably change them out, grips OK. Fenders fit well. Wheels are real true at this point.

It isn't a bike that I will ride long distances on, I see it as a unique fun bike. I might even get a clown suit to go with as previous posts have referred to it as a clown bike. I will be watching to see if the some more of the industry picks up on the 32" tire size. If fenders were removed there is clearance for a wider tire. I have some ideas churning around for the next RRBBO.
