Jeez, no announcement for HPVF. My bad (very bad). It's on, and for the 13th. Very much want to see y'all there. I'm having trouble updating the HPVF site itself (http:tiny.cc/hpvf), so don't be worried that it says the date is still tentative. It isn't.

My feeling is that StoopidTall was rightly named. It's one righteous ride, but I wouldn't go anywhere near it. The guy who rode it didn't have a helmet on, which makes sense since from that height it wouldn't do any good anyway. Fly or die.

On that "next tallbike" of yours, Graylock, it looks like the high bars up front would even protect you somewhat from branches that overhang the rail trail. Even so, you might want to mount a sawzall in front, and send a bill to Nashua River Rail Trail, Massachusetts Department of Conservation...

Any advice about what truing stands are worth the money? At our house it's time to learn to build wheels. It'll be easier with that really pretty $200 Park Tool Pro Truing Stand, but it's going to take a lot of truing to justify spending $200 for a single-purpose tool. There's a $30 Park Tool...

If you want to ride up the Nashua River Rail Trail and back, here's some info that might help. From the Ayer parking lot, it's 4 miles to Groton center, then 5 miles more to Pepperell center (where there's a good ice cream shop), then another 3 miles to the end of the rail trail at Gilson Road...
