Looks like a good one here. I say 16" with the springer. If you go 20" I think it would be better with the stingray fork you have there.

I'm going camping for the next few days so I'll leave you guys with a small update: I have decided to powder coat the frame, so I stripped the frame down to get it ready.

I also have a selection of crank sets. I have an idea for the one I'll end up using, how about powder coating it black? Still have not decided which one I like best. Or, should I just leave it classic chrome? Tell me what you guys think.

And then there's the real question, front fender or no front fender? :39:

Says Krate done right in the title...
Center sprocket, no powder chrome, and yes on the fender.
Polish all the chrome to shine.

Carl.

^^^^What Carl said ^^^^ "Fritz Fifty Krate Done Right" If you're trying to do a Krate done right then you really need to use the 16" front wheel, the Schwinn sprocket and the shorty front fender. I personally think Schwinn made one of the most perfect bikes when they came out with the Krate series. But then again, it is a build off and you can do what ever you want. :soapbox:

Right is subjective I guess...right to whom? the builder or the audience....

I say do what feels right...I was never a big fan of the 16 incher on the Krates....I like the balance that the two 20's give the bike....but that's just me and I'm weird...so take that for what it's worth.

If you want unique as Angryjoe says, I'd concur with Monstaah on the first sprocket (with the "liquid flame" holes) and no fender....and maybe go knobby with the tire combo for kind of a muscle / dirt / krate look. How's that for an odd job...

Alright I've made some head way with this project. The powder coaters are having issues which is fine, I should get my hands on the frame tomorrow but until then I have been working on other stuff that needed to be done. This bike is going to be sweet! :cool2::rockout:

an awesome head badge

just got my decals in the mail, I wont be using the cotton picker text on the bike I'll try my best match the font and have it say Fritz Fifty.

I repainted the red band, on the bendix red band hub

Redid the hi-light's on the break arm

And I also hand painted my tire set, this is one of the most time consuming things I have done for a bike

Looking good! I like the attention to detail and the letter painting. Did you use a 100% acrylic paint for the rubber parts?

I used a acrylic paint made by Liquitex, it says on the back of the tube permanent, water resistant and flexible when dry, so I think it will be fine the worst thing that can happen is I'll have to repaint them.

Those tires look awesome! My vote is no fender +use '68-'69 bars to make it like the original '68 Krate. ('68 Krate had no front fender). I also vote for the middle sprocket in chrome. It looks like it will clean up nice.

Wow! All the color variety we have going on in this build off! Your bike already has a classy look to it. Do they make tuxedos for bikes? If so, this one needs one!
