I'll post more pics up as this goes back together, right now it is completely disassembled.

I have sandblasted all the old paint off of this Hawthorne, and as of now the frame and forks have been painted a medium blue metallic (lighter than what is pictured, but not really light blue because I used red oxide primer), and the rack, chain guard, skirts and tank are cream colored. My question is, what to do with the fenders? I don't want to paint them silver, because I think that looks like you're trying to save bad chrome. Also need suggestions for the stem, bars (painted, not chrome) and truss rods.

Some ideas I have:

1. Cream Fenders
2. Blue Fenders
3. One Cream and one blue fender (which one should be which color?)
4. A different color for the fenders? What would go good with the two mentioned?
5. Two-tone fenders (not sure I can pull that off without it looking dumb)

I think silver might look ok on the truss rods, or maybe a third accent color? Was also thinking of using one of the two colors for the wheels as well, or possibly a third color.

Open to suggestions at this point.

Why not put some bright white pinstripes on the fenders.
Use the 3M auto body masking tape that comes in narrower
widths and is a little stretchy. Lay strips 1/4" wide tape
down that follows the outer edge of the fenders, then lay
down 1/4" wide strips right against the edge of the 1/4"
strips you put down first. Then add another strip of 1'4" tape.

You should have three parallel lines of tape butted up against
each other on either side of the fender.
Now, pull up the middle strip of tape from each group of
three, mask the other parts of the fender you don't want painted
and spray your stripes.

to see how it can turn out;
it was the first time I used that technique, and I was very
satisfied with the results.
You can use wider tape too, it's just a little harder to get it to lay down
flat around the curve of the fender.

I think a 50's Chevrolet two tone ,Cream and any other color..... 8)
