It's amazing how changing one thing on a bicycle can spin you into a new direction.

My original plan was to run a set of stupid high ape hangers on this bike, but a handlebar off a $20 garage sale Trek mountain bike blasted that idea silly.

I took the stock bars off the Electra and mocked up the mountain bike bars in their place. I knew right away I was on to something.

A drag-style cruiser.

The mountain bike bar/stem combo wouldn't fit the BMX stem I'm running on the Electra because of diameter issues, but a trip to my local hardware store provided me with a bit of inspiration.

Here it is with the stock bars. Kinda cool, but still kinda lacking something.

After wandering the aisles in the hardware store with the stem, I came across a straight steel bar with the perfect diameter.

The seat post was way too high for my taste.....

.....but 5 minutes with a Dremel put a stop to that real quick

Another hour and a half with the Dremel got the wheels polished....

....and this is the result.

the stance is killer even though i myself too prefer non bent springers. that is more because of the way they steer. but on that bike it looks very good
