Yep, @BobbyStillz , mine's a Wald too. I probably should have mentioned that.

One of my favorite all-time t-shirts I saw from a vendor that came through our shop back in the early '90s was this one; still not sure why I didn't buy it! Now I can't even Google an image find on the internet?! ? I just mocked this one up on Paint...

Thank you, and SO true! 🤣🤣🤣 One of the coolest aftermarket forks I've come across was a wald piece. I used it on BALLOONATIC. It's like they made a blade fork with really broad blades, then rolled the edges inward till the legs were a standard size. It looks like a tube fork from the profile, but if you look on the inner part of the leg, it is curled tight. It's a very strong fork.

Ok, so as goofy as the flipped stem looks (as is), I have still maintained proportions and lines. We just have a couple voids that throw off the typical look we are used to.

I really want to put a headlight on this, but until now, I was going to have to mount it to the bars (or somewhere on the fork) because the spring and stem close up the area where I wanted to mount it. By flipping the stem, I am able to mount the light above the springer AND solve my fit issue.

I second that emotion ^^ !!

Well, if I'm 'gauging' your void needs correctly, you could always go with something like this.

Either in between the apes mounted off the stem bolt, or down under hanging from the stem.

(excuse the primitive Windows 7 Paint)

I've got a non-functioning Schwinn one that is expendable....

Was thinking the same! Running the wire on a functional speedo might be tricky, but a dial only for aesthetics would definitely be cool. We'll see.

I thought about hanging my muse there as well.

I have a bit of a tail on the sissybar. I had thought about cutting it down, or at least raising it one more level, but then I had an idea...

20230711_201511.jpg

What if I mirrored the curve of the fork, and pulled a Studebaker, with a little 'coming-and-going' action?

20230711_201506.jpg

I pulled a roached-out sissybar remnant from my shoe closet (s.w.i.d.t.?), and took a conduit bender to it.

It's pretty close, but I would need a much tighter curvature to make it work with the smaller tail. This curve was the shortest and tightest possible, with my bender.

I think I'm going to leave it alone for now.

Time to get dressed, and put on some jewelry!

Looking at the rear fender first. It will need a little brushing and polishing, but is pretty much ready to go. I popped the rivet and pulled the brace, as the Murray has two mounting points on the frame to keep it secure and rigid.

I also did a partial mount of one of the grips - just to see how it looks.

It ties in with the headbadge, and mimics the cuffs on 'My Pet Monster'.

As I was looking for another part, I saw that I had a few of these feet for a metro shelf (wire rack).

Remembering the mounting posts that @SkyknightJohn made for his fender ornament, made me wonder if these were compatible with a certain hood ornament? Why yes, yes they are!

Also, because I had popped the rivet for the fender brace, I now had a possible spot to attach this beauty.

The rivet hole is a smaller diameter than the mounting bolt, so I am holding it in place for the mockup.

It could work, but then I would need a horizontal suspension rod that I could attach to the second mouting point of the ornament, then anchor on the seat tube. Hmmm...this too will need to percolate.

I agree that the sissy would look awesome with a swept back curve reflecting the springer bend. However, I'd be very concerned about what effect the other mounting holes might have on the bending process
Yeah, I am 90% sure it would crimp or buckle. Especially with the concentrated pressure required for a tighter curve.

Happy have inspired the hood ornament mount! It’s pretty epic!

The mount seems pretty straight forward, but not with the parts I'm trying to use. The initial reflector bracket was a little too short, but could be extended.

I tried another bracket, and tried to fold it to a similar 90° as the first but it is too strong, to give, in some areas. Other parts (as you'll see) will fold once, then snap if you try and bend it back. This is extremely over-engineered, and bulky.

I tried to bend the tab, with the two screw holes, back to it's original position and it snapped off. So I used it as an extention on the initial bracket. It's not rigid enough to keep the orb from slipping out at the moment, so I will try and remedy that, as well as attempt a Plan D, which may be significantly simpler in design/construction.
