Yeah those are original but there's some cracking between the treads on the riding surface. I may put some Westwind whitewall repops on it so she doesn't crash (my wife) while she's riding. It's a 1970 and I clean rust with bronze wool and WD-40. If fine doesn't work I use medium or course. You have to keep the wool and chrome lubed and wipe occasionally with a oily rag to remove the chrome/metal/rust fragments or they will scratch. It's messy but I love the smell of WD-40. Then windex and car wax. The kickstand and fender braces were hit with a bench grinder with a wire brush and clear coated. I cleaned and rebuilt the hubs and other bearings. I'd like to put a nice chrome Starlet tank and a generator light set up on it. I kept telling her 'You need a Schwinn, You need a Schwinn.' Now she sees why, it's a solid bike.
