What is it?

I just came up on this bike from my friends grandpas basement.It doesn't have a badge but I was thinking it was a Schwinn. The serial is on the left bottom bracket and reads A162488. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Rodders!

Looks like a Columbia frame, 1955 going by the serial number. If might be a Snyder frame also.
