Hi, Does anybody know what it is? What year? My guess is ELGIN

The serial # is S5 72 14

its an elgin, Id say a 40 or a 41 late model

Well it's built by Murray, and could have been a few different badges. But most likely an Elgin. 1940 would be coded "E". -Adam

Murray built, 1936 to 1941ish. The stem and bars are not typically Elgin, but the grease zerk on the headtube is an Elgin-like gimmick. But believe it or not some owners actually made this addition,

What brand hubs? They look kind of New Departure. Elgins of this era use proprietary Elgin branded "air-cooled" hubs.
