Have to wait on the tank. I forgot to paint the horn button and screws

I also ran out of daylight. But that was fun updating y'all with the equivalent of a RRB live feed. :D

I did tape one tank half on to get a few pics.

I have thought about painting some of the old chrome springer fork pieces with the blue, but I don't want to over do it.

Here are a couple of pics that I forgot about from yesterday.

Springer and headlight back together

And fork paint detail similar to what some of the X53s had along with the old beehives and the later rat traps.

The El Toro bars had gotten some sweat rust on them during the build. This is caused by dripping sweat onto the bike as you are working on it in hot and humid Savannah. I removed the grips and sanded the bars down and then laid a few layers of the gloss clear on them.

Then I worked on a method to secure the floating sissy bars into the frame tubes without them bouncing around. I forgot to take pics of this part, so I will follow up on that tomorrow.

After I worked out that, I took the sissy bars out. These are aluminum rods, so I decided to take them ANOTHER MOTHER FURTHER. (Here is a Georgia band for you @Jake Sensi !!!!)

I pulled out my Mothers (Finest) Aluminum Polish. Take a look at the difference between the top bar and the lower one.

Now I have "chrome" floating sissy bars.....

I highlighted the WESTERN lettering of the sissy bar spear by scraping away the paint.

As I was losing daylight, I worked out my method of joining the two sissy bars at the tip as well as how I will incorporate the spear. For these pics, the spear is just held in place with tape. Tomorrow I will finish up the sissy bar construction.
