Hey everyone, I'm parting out an Schwinn/Excelsior built Panther and one of the rods on the front springer is cracked. It should probably be welded to prevent future failure. I'm wondering; should I cancel my eBay auction, mig/wire feed weld the crack and put it back up? Or is there a higher demand for "untouched" components? I'm just trying to get the most I can out of it, obviously. Thanks!

I think I would leave it alone and point out the crack in the description.

The weld would alter the patina, and I do not know if that would be a negative, or if the weld would be considered part of the recent history/new patina. What say ye, other Rat Rodders?

Usually a weld/repair is considered a negative, so why bother, let the new owner do his own welding.

Just my .02

I was thinking to leave it alone as well. I figure with its' rust and being parted, the true rats/restorers will jump at it.
