Found this old tank at a yardsale for four bucks and affixed it to my Schwinn. Can anyone tell me what it is from?? It doesn't fit my bike but for the money it works well enough. Thinking of painting it to match but I also like the patina

Girls tank for sure, not sure of make.

Paint it black or leave it as is? It sticks out like a sore thumb in it's original color but while painting would blend it I think it might also take away from it a bit. Thoughts?

Thanks! So JCH bikes were built by Ross?
Actually, very few were made by them, in the mid - late 50s. Sears' main supplier for bikes since 1938 was Murray. In 1956, they were busy building a new factory, and Sears turned to others to fill their orders. Many were sourced from NYC import co. Stelber, who also sold bikes with their own badge, and later, Iverson. Stelber also used parts from NY neighbors CBC/Ross, which may have helped w/Sears. Sears also sold bikes made by Monark, Westfield/Columbia, and in the 60s up, Huffy. -Adam
