Haven't ever seen one but there has been some amazing bikes on here inspired by them.

There was one of these at a Vintage Ride here in Dallas a while back.

I have the impression that they are overpriced due to the "military" part- or do you have a cheap one somewhere?

The one I saw looked similar to these pictures, and I couldn't help wonder if they didn't have 26" wheels in a 28" frame- lots of fender room. Maybe that's the way they were built, though.

they don't have standard sized rims....or tyres.
sadly, if you rode one, you'd need to run chinese tyres made of cheap plastic or replace the original rims with a near-enough replacement size. i've searched and searched for the definitive ETRTO size, but cannot find it.
amazingly, even sheldon doesn't have the answer

A friend of mine has one of those, he bought it for € 200,--.
He had to buy a new tire, it had to come all the way from Switzerland so it took some time (and money), but you can get them.
If you want more information from him send me an e-mail.

there was a modern version of these on Ebay recently. it was $1500, and a really nice and very stout bike. it had touring racks too.

here's a picture like the one I saw (sweet) :

That's the one I like! except the ugly pedals with reflectors and I would prefer a black seat. Looks like it has a BMX bar?

^^^ it sorta looks like a medium rise mtn bike bar with a bmx cross bar. i really like that bike. i probably should'a bought one. if it tours well, i could sell my tour bike.

oh, by the way, those are hydraulic rim brakes on the picture I posted. How cool is that?

i was looking into what i could do with my royal scot. this might be a good project for a diamond build off. the main parts to pulling off this build is the big frame bag and front brake. anyone have any ideas.

You dont hear of a Royal Scot too often....But my neighbor just scored a trike with a sturney three speed, and no he didn't want to sell it. the sad part he paid $75 I never find trikes less than $200
