Don't need to worry about much mud in the summer series, but a large camelback hydration system is definitely recommended. That frame is wicked. I have a holey themed bike in the works, but a somewhat different treatment. The nice thing about the San Gabriel and San Fernando valleys is that there are all kinds of ex-aerospace fabrication shops - if you decide to, it shouldn't be that hard to find somebody to heat-treat it in our area.
