I came across a 1939 Shelby Airflo Cruiser that has been painted in OD military colors. The owner said that it was originally used by the military, so I wanted to put it out there for the forum members to help.

They want $300 for it, but I don't know if that's in the ballpark.

Thank you
Stony

If they can provide some solid documentation that it was a military bicycle that may support their asking price, other wise the repaint would detract from the value. depending on how original the various parts are it may or may not be a good deal. you can always offer half and go from there...

With very little knowledge on vintage bikes, let alone this Shelby, I wouldn't know what to look for.

The seller also said they won't consider any "low ball" offers.

Here you go. Not a great pic, but the only one I have.

Kind of looks too clean to be a vintage army bike? Looks like it has the seat stays that go past the seat tube and connect with the top tube, cool design.

The guy said he painted it up in a MP scheme, so that's why it looks newer. I believe this is a 1939 Shelby, so my question is sans the military scheme, is this a rare bike if it were in its original civilian paint?

Post pictures on the CABE. there are members who are into military bikes and could tell you about the bike.I dont think Shelby was ever contracted by the government and then the bike would be a $100 repaint bike.
