Custom-convention “Self-Made Bicycles of Ukraine” took place!
At the end of May 2010 Kiev hosted the first international bicycle custom-convention “SBU” (“Self-Made Bicycles of Ukraine”).
The exhibition was held on the territory of the former skate park “Alcatraz”. Visitors and participants of the convention were cordially met by the organizers — members of the Kiev Custom Bicycle Club “Pride Kustoms”. The girls were dressed in blue dresses with “SBU” symbols, while the male part of the club was in orange prison overalls.
Customizers also arrived from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Odessa, Slavyansk, Lvov, Kharkov, Chernigov and Konotop to show their masterpieces. About 40 custom-bikes competed in the following categories:
• Full Custom (based on a self-made bicycle frame, with a complete set of individually designed spare parts)
• Tuning (based on the factory bike frame with original equipment and possible changes in the frame construction)
• Airbrush (a bicycle with an original painting)
• Fixie (a bicycle with a fixed gear)

We heartily congratulate the winners. You deserved the victory by your persistent and laborious work. We also thank all the participants of the convention - the contest was difficult, the competition - worthy, and each submitted masterpiece deserved admiration and respect.
We also thank the visitors of the convention for the interest, support and excellent mood. Bicycle is a vivid component of the life of a modern metropolis inhabitant. Due to custom it acquires individuality, reflects character traits and preferences of its owner. Custom bike is a comfortable and stylish means of transport.
We are very happy to notice that each year brings more and more people interested in custom culture and cycling, open to everything new. We hope that the convention inspired the “SBU” guests on self fulfillment; and next year audience will be impressed with a variety of new, handsome bikes.
