Went to look at this schwinn Klunker with Worksman rims and front drum I found on Craigslist. Paint looks original, but I have never seen green on green so it probably was painted some time ago.

Serial check says April, 56.

Don't know what these forks came from but they appear really heavy duty.

The guy was asking way too much, but he also had this J.C. Higgins and I was able to get a good package deal.

One truss bent and fork looks slightly bent, but nothing that can't be straightened.

Any help on what year this might be would be appreciated.

That Schwinn two tone green is a factory color combo. I've seen a few pop up with it. Not as common as most color combos, but very cool.

I think those forks are from a newest Schwinn before they went to the round tubes they currently use.

Nice finds! :D The fork on the Schwinn looks like the forks on the repop Sting-Ray's from the 90's

Schwinn was built April of '56. I'd say that was a possibly a Hornet or maybe a Deluxe Hornet since it had a tank. Is the kickstand tube broken off or is that one of the frames that came with out it? They made a batch of Hornet frames with no welded kickstand tubes in that time period. Gary

Cool, you have a bicycle with a V8.

Some late 90's Murray made bikes like their retro Mercury Strato Flite model had forks like that too.

I just checked and there is no sign of the welded kickstand being removed? Also removed the ugly white guard. I will start looking for green forks, probably tough to find.
