Been a while since I posted. I finally finished one project I started last year. Bought this Schwinn at a yard sale for $20. Frame was in great shape, no rust, very few scratches.
Removed & replaced all bearings. Painted wheel faces, chain ring, crank arms, & hubs dark metallic gray. Rebuilt wheels with black spokes. Added new chain. Added flat handle bar and small springer seat ($5 each at local used bike parts shop). Leather wrapped bar ends. Polished chrome. New tires, fatter on back for the hot rod look. Also added quick release seat clamp so I could switch height quickly between my two daughters and myself.
Both my daughters (age 7 & 10 ) have nice multispeed mountain bikes in their size. They love those bike but still often fight over who gets to ride this one. I thought I might sell it when done but I think I need to keep it now!
