Ratty Schwinn Suburban???

Picked this up from a customer of mine.

1974 Schwinn Suburban. Looks horrible? Yet it has peaked my interest with how it looks. Sporadic spots of rust and corrosion everywhere.

Everything is solid and in working order.

Half tempted to treat the rust, clear coat it, new tires and a service and ride it!

Thoughts??

Go for it, it's really not in too bad of shape.

Here's one I got last month as part of a pile of free bikes.. It's a '74 Suburban as well, but the years have not been as kind to the old girl. Your bike should make a great rider.

I'd suggest boiled linseed oil, as opposed to clear coat. Schwinn paint is really strong, responds really well to the process. BLO is oxidized, so it literally brings paint back to life as it preserves it.
