Hi,

I like riding BMX with friends and thought it would be cool to show you this...(even if it's not a cruiser, which I can't afford for the moment)

|Day 1
So here is the bike when I bring it back home.

What I'm gonna do:
• single speed
• fixed gear
• white paint on the frame and the fork
• natural metal on the pedals, the crank, the sprocket and the handle bar
• white paint on the rim lips
• black paint on the spokes
• old brown leather saddle
• brown leather grips
• wooden mud flaps (maybe)

Stripped and cleaned, I have to get off the paint before re-painting it =D

|Day 2
I finished the sanding of the frame (and forgot to take a pic...)
I sanded the fork, which will be painted with the same color of the frame.
IMG_6703.jpg

The same for the stem
IMG_6706.jpg

I also sanded the crank and the sprocket and also the handlebar. All these things will be natural metal, no paint on it.

I also put the bearing and the headset in a fuel bath for the night.
IMG_6708.jpg

So tomorrow I start with cleaning those last parts, then I'll see for cleaning rusty parts with some coca-cola. And also cleaning the rims.

The paint job might will be done in the next couples of days.

That's all for the moment =D

|Day 3
Result of the fuel bath. Perfect.
IMG_6714.jpg

Cleaning of the rims. Not really good. I have to strip them and clean them right (also paint them...but I'll do this later)
IMG_6721.jpg

Just a little try with the grips. I like how it looks but not comfortable at all. Just temporary until I find good leather grips.
IMG_6723.jpg

Coca-cola bath for the rusty parts. Gotta clean these tomorrow.
IMG_6732.jpg

Maybe the paint job will be done this w-e. Hope the weather will be with me =D

NICE JOB, cleaning everything up!....Can't wait to see it finished. 8)

Thanks =D

|Day 4
Today I repaired the defects of the frame and the fork.
IMG_6741.jpg

I also cleaned the rusty parts that were in the coca-cola bath. Good result =D
IMG_6748.jpg

I stripped the rear wheel and cleaned every part of it.
IMG_6735.jpg

IMG_6750.jpg

I finished by founding an old seatpost and I sanded it =D
IMG_6753.jpg

Oh yea, I found this on eBay, I'm gonna buy it I think, I really like the look =D

|Day 5
Thank you =D

Today I didn't work a lot on it.. (hey it's sunday! :bandit: )

I painted the spokes (rear wheel only) in black. (yea the pic is awful, we can't see the glossy black with the flash...)
IMG_6760.jpg

IMG_6767.jpg

I got my glossy white paint for the frame... =D

Yippeeee! I received my vintage leather insane saddle!
How it looked:

I'm all in joy for this, just love this thing! =D

Cool project dude! I like the way this is going. What are you going to do with the brakes and gyro? Are you going to keep them as before or but a coaster hub or something on?

Jon

looks like lots of work but it is looking good so far.
J'ai vu que c'est un vélo décathlon donc sa doit été Français.
vraiment impec
Greetings Stijn

@JonTheGun: I'm not gonna put the gyro and the brakes back on it. Only a fixed gear =)

@jackie chain: yep french =D

Some new ideas.

New rims. Old vintage 22"
I'll delete the BMX fork to put a bent I think (homemade with a regular fork).

And I'll cut the bottom of the handle bar as the picture shows it.

I dig it. I was kinda "blah" about your project til I got towards the bottom pics and could see where you're going with it. The bent fork, bigger rims, cool saddle, all that will change the attitude of this bike a lot. Cool!

dude i cant wait to see how these bars look with you cutting em like that. ive been wanting to do that to a set of bars but im worried about there being an open hole where the bar was. does that make sense? im really liking where your going with this build though. i love that seat too!! keep us posted bro

polly- just had this idea with the bars. what if you used a set of mtb. bars instead? dont get me wrong i love the idea of ANYTHING custom but i think that mtb bars would be about the same look as what your going for. just my 2 cents. still love your bike tho!

I'm impressed. I was apprehensive, especially when you said you wanted to fix gear a bmx. I think you should keep the hoop on the bar, for structural integrity, but it would look pretty cool if you could mount a headlight to it.

Thanks guys for the feedbacks.

Got a new donor for different pieces.
IMG_7007.jpg

Pedals for sure, fork for my homemade bent and other things maybe...
I'll get some other bikes like this tomorrow... =D

agreed about the hoop and mounting the light

just curious, how tall are you? and do you plan on riding the bike? Between the fixed gear and the short reach to the pedals, i would have two blown out knees and probably a cracked skull.

I'm not very tall...well I'm regular size but not tall... Don't worry, I wanna make a comfortable bike ;)

Found this handle bars
