This is how this Kansan does it!

I only let myself have one rat at a time.
My first was this '50-51 Columbia

Then I got this '34 Colson that went through several mods
When I first built it up

It's last day as a rat

Next up was this barn fresh '61 Schwinn Hornet

Sold the Hornet to finance the Colson's face lift in RRBBO7. I was in need of a new rat and this '47 CWC Western Flyer popped up at an excellent price.
When it first came home.

Where did you find the 47 CWC? That has the tank I have been lookin to find for months. :(

Speaking of Cody's stuff, I picked up this 24 Western Flyer from him that I'm gonna rat out for my grandson. This baby is really locked up though, it's gonna take a lot of PB Blaster to get it apart. It's got a cool chainguard, great bars & the seat is pretty cool! Headbadge is pretty neat as well! Good thing it was a 24 or you would have snagged that one too!

im not sure if this is what you are looking for but this is my definition of a rat rod nothing was purchased on this bicycle everything was salvaged from other bikes the only money spent was the 30 bucks i paid for the flying wedge
it IS a true 1969 amf flying wedge 16/20 chopper i started with then i added a harley davidson bicycle front end added some amf harley davidson handlebars
i bought a Murray eliminator (i think) set for 2 bucks at a swap meet
the rear wheel is from the Harley Davidson bike
i painted the frame flat black to give it a true rat look.
then i took a next bedazzled rear whitewall and here is what i came up with
enjoy her name is the outlaw

here i what i started with

i called this one my "left-overs" bike... was one of my first "rat-rod's" I built on accident.

basically a 80's Sears Free Spirit mt. bike frame with anything I could find to make one more ridable bike for when friends would come over and want to cruise around on... it sorta started this whole mess of bike building for me lol

You said real rat rods right? Here's some pics of my old Heinz 57 Roadster pickup. Cab is a '26 Hupmobille car made to a pickemup cab, '36 Hudson Terraplane grill, Ford front axel setup suicide style, '89 355 V8/700r4, '89 TA rear end, custom offset smoothie rims, bias ply tires, custom frame. Built it up to a roller and traded it for my van. Wish I could find more pics of how far along it was when I traded it. I was fitting the body and frame for mounts here.

I bought that bike off of Mike, It just showed up in the mail today. I'm planning on setting it up just like in this picture after whiping down the frame and fork and then i'm going to give it a light wax it protect the remaining paint. I got the Loaf pan off him with it too hahaha.

I wouldn't necessarily call any of mine "builds" - its really just the effects of mother nature with some red rims, whitewalls and red tires added. All of them embodies what I think of as rat rods though.

The Columbia I picked today. I'm going to change out the tires, maybe paint the rims, and call it done too.
