I was recently in New York for a few days, and took a side trip to Worksman Cycles in Queens. I was hoping to see a few bikes in the showroom, but I was treated to a full factory tour. I was even encouraged to take photos. Al and the guys at the factory were amazing!
One crazy coincidence? They just finished a pair of new bikes that morning. Looks like Worksman is now making a couple of Rat Rods, and I got to see the first ones!
Here are a few of my photos from the trip. Enjoy!
Man! This place is old school!
A few machines date back to beginning of the company!
Benders during break time.
Hand welding frames.
Surprisingly, only four welders work in the shop.
Frames ready for paint.
Newsgirl in the paint booth.
Baking the fresh painted frames.
Newsboy frames ready for assembly.
Think they would miss one?
Bunch o' forks.
Wheel building machine.
Hand building wheels.
Wheel truing station.
Ever see a pile of drum brake bike wheels?
Time for final assembly.
Finished Worksman Newsboy bikes.
As promised, here are a few pictures of Worksmans' new Rat Rods!
Love at first sight!
Digging the 24" drum brake wheel.
The new Rat Trike.
Too excited to take the plastic off of the seat.
Worsksman is in the process of making a custom tank for the trike! I'm hoping for a BBQ grill.
Product designer/tour guide Al Venditti poses with his new baby.
Thanks again to the guys at Worksman for an awesome time. They treated me like family. I even got a free T-shirt!
