Little project I did this weekend... had an old vinyl seat I wanted to paint up. Bought up some SEM paint, made for painting leather and vinyl/plastic. Its a two part system. They require a surface prep which is fully understandable seeing as its a flexible surface.

Here are the products, think I spent around $25 bucks on the pair?

Here is the original seat, scrubbed it it down with a scotch brite pad, then washed with soap and water. Dried well. Then masked off the pan on the bottom side.

Then sprayed it down with the surface prep, wiped it in as per the instructions. Then comes the paint, 3-4 coats of paint. Let that dry, and tried scratching it off. "Flexed" the seat, all seems good. I'll update once this seat sees some daylight. Bit chilly here in Iowa.

I'm curious to see how it holds up compared to single can sprays. Should be interesting.

Buy the clear coat that SEM sells. I did the whole interior in a few cars Ive owned over the years, and I found if I clear coated the seats, and panels the finish never wore away or peeled. If I didnt some times the paint would flake or crack over time, or wear away from use, a good example is the grab handle on a door panel or where you get in an out of the car and the seat rubs your shoulder and butt. It comes in Satin, Gloss, and flat, I like gloss so it always looks like it just had a fresh coat of Armor All.
