yes i have read the `how to`s ` but still i`m a little confused,
would like to do it right the first time ;-)

i have 24inch rims of an electra jeremy lime (the rims are painted blue, light blue) and want to paint them black.
i know when rims are chrome, than sand, primer, paint, clear paint.
i`m going to use car paint, still have a couple of spray cans

but these rims are 100% neat (pardon my inglish :) ) so what can/should i do

1. polish and paint
2. polish, primer, paint
2. sand, polish, primer, paint

thnx in advance !

I think polish and paint would be enough, I´ve done it like that several times and the result is very good.

If the wheels are still laced, you could put straws on the rays to prevent painting them. Saves lot´s of time and tape.

The result, judge it your self:

Good luck!!

1. Clean the wheels reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally well
2. Scuff up the paint a little bit with some fine sand paper or a fine steel woll
3. Clean the wheels reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally well again
4. Lay down a light coat of primer. Once it drys, check it all over agian, wipe the wheels down and apply another thin coat.
5. Clean the wheels reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally well
6. Apply light coats of your colour, letting them dry fully before checking for runs/drips, then paint again until satisfied.

Redundant? Perhaps some, but from my recent project I've learned than when painting wheels, when in doubt CLEAN THEM AGAIN! And bits of dust or oil from your skin can have dramatic and dissapointing effects on the rims. Just take your time, and I'm sure they'll turn out great.

Here's a few pics of my process, hope this helps!
