dug this odd looking frame out of a pile today Not sure what it is any idea, its badged as a Hawthorne thinking maybe not the correct chain ring rough shape any one have an idea of mfg

Too bad there's not more there--that's a rare bike. It's a '39 Snyder-built Hawthorne Zep. One year only deluxe bicycle characterized by the twin tube designs. The headbadge and chainring are both correct. Look up some pictures; they're killer. Cheers!

thanks for the info jpromo i looked it up they where a very nice bike, looks like they made a standard and a zep twin bar model

I love that frame even with the cut bar. I didn't notice at first, but it has a double down tube as well.
Let me know if you decide to sell it. Better yet, please build a cool bike out of it.

doesn't look all that bad. you could re-weld a bar onto the bottom tube and fix it but, finding the parts to this bike would be a pain in the .....
Hawthorne zep is the correct frame style.

Personally I'd repair the frame as said and build it as a rat rod till you can source all the parts to do a proper restoration.

I just saw this would have a CWC fork lock on the frame, this is a deluxe tanked zep frame missing basically everything plus some.
