i found this old bike on craigslist and just had to buy it does anyone know the brand or name of the bike i am at a loss.

It is a Midwest Industries convertible bike and yours is only the second one I've seen. I'll post pics of mine tomorrow.

Here's mine:

Your headbadge decal is faded out but the shape is the same. Everything else is the same too but I dont have the top tube, rear rack or rear fender.

I have some pics on my computer that bikes that used this style of frame that might have a chain guard. But I don't have any shots of it when they were new. I'll look in a little while and will post up what I have.

Unfortunately no. I've never taken anything off mine to investigate. It's in my sun room as decor.

I haven't found those pics yet. There's a thread on here somewhere from last summer when I got mine. Another member had built a rat ride for his daughter with the same style of bike. I don't remember if it had a chain guard though. Those would've been the pics I would've posted up for you.

Here's mine all "rat'd" out. I believe chainguard is o.e. since it fits too well to not be correct. The green is the original paint.

My eldest daughter (whom the bike was built for) has progressed up to 20" bikes now, but I have an, up and coming, 5 year old who still learning the whole 2-wheeler thing.

I looked at mine today. It looks like it was a burgundy or maroon color originally.
