it is a schwinn and the number is on bottom of crank and the number is

fw800061

can anyone tell me what year it is?

That "w" is strange....may make it a mid 80s model bike.

Schwinn started using the two letter serial numbers in 1965.

In 1982 the serial numbers started off with AT, BT, CT, DT, ET, FT, etc.

Not sure what they did after 82....they said they went back to the old numbering system in the late 80s so maybe yours is an 85.

Whoops...just saw where you pulled the number from....ignore what I said above.

Look for a serial number on the rear drop out or on the head tube.

bottom of the crand would mean its a pre ww2 frame do you have pictures of it? I can give you an idea of its age there are some guys on the schwinn forom who can date it real close,
