Hey everybody.
I just loaded my first post into the RRB forum and wanted to introduce myself. I've been into bikes for as long as I can remember. I love bikes of all types, all brands, all ages, shapes and sizes. I compete in Ironman triathlon events and ride epic sportive rides regularly but i'm just as at home taking part in vintage bike rides or getting excited about BMX flatlanding. I'm never happier than when I'm out on two wheels or have a spanner in my hand. I am very lucky to work for an internationally known bike brand doing a job that I really love but i'm not saying who I work for or what I do because frankly it doesn't matter. I'd still be doing all of this even if I didn't work for them...
I've always got a bunch of projects on the go. I'm currently rebuilding my carbon fibre time trial bike, i'm building up a new carbon fibre road bike, i'm putting my plan together for my Magnesium RRB entry, i'm converting my singlespeed 29er to Tubeless ready, i'm polishing a refurbing a high miler groupset - and i'm also stripping down and rebuilding a dynamo hub...and if that's not enough I'm planning on restoring a vintage Rudge Gentleman's bicycle when I get time.
I try not to bee too obsessed and balance it all with other stuff. I do a bunch of quality non-bike stuff with my family (three sons and a wife) and i'm a student of Krav Maga (a pretty hardcore Isreali Martial Art). Upcycling is something else I really dig on (taking old junk and making it into something nice)...and I have a weakness for anything Steampunk. Basically taking old junk and making stuff like this...it's better than sitting there vegetating in front of the TV in my book! There's not much better than having a warm pint of English beer in one hand, a spanner in the other, and a head full of ideas!
(Above are two pics of a quick release seatpack I made from an old wooden tea caddy)
(This is the stool I made which I sit at when i'm playing bikes in the garage)
(This is a desk tidy I made in a desk tidy build off with my sister. I lost the vote to a pink cardboard castle made out of a shoebox...)
(Here's my Steampunked Kirk Revolution. My RRBO entry will be another Kirk I'll put together from another frame I have)
That's me.
Marc
