Mystery to me!

[1918 Ranger]

Here's another bike I got early in my dealings 2 years ago when I knew no better. Although, I got it cheap so the crank, peddles, chain ring, handle bars and hubs value far outweigh what i paid. So in reality i did well just had other intentions to restore it then instead of parting out now.

What do the experts say it is? I am intrigued as to what it once was.

Chain ring is a Columbia. There are good Columbia S/N databases on the web, I would start there.

Most likely. I don't think Westfield/Columbia came out with their postwar forward dropouts until 48. -Adam
