I picked up this old Schwinn mostly for parts. Aside from the rack, crank, pedals and chain guard, I was really digging the wheels. They are perfectly straight an in amazing shape. I don't think they are Schwinn wheels, as they have no knurling, no stamp of any kind, and no manufacturers mark on the front hub. I was just curious if anyone knew what they were originally from. The rim profile is a flattened "D" shape. The rear hub is New Departure. Front hub is unknown.

Serial number on bottom bracket shell (G132XXX) translates to 5/24/1950. Any additional info is greatly appreciated!

Here is the bike as I got it. Rolling on a really nice set of 26 x 2-1/8 Schwinn Typhoon Cord tires.

A couple close up shots. I was able to wipe the dirt and rust off with a damp shop rag!

I sort of recall that early S-2's weren't knurled or stamped, but not sure. I think Lobdell made a straight sided rim. -Adam
