Would you repaint the original fender and guard or retouch them?

Don't they look good as they are? I'd probably leave them like that, or retouch them just a little if necessary...

It's only original once.- seems to be the mantra on the Schwinn board. But I agree to just leave them. Looks like Lillian was a tough chick and probably did not have any trailer queens.
