JC Higgins bee hive springer help!

I want to install a JC Higgins bee hive springer on an old Monark frame but the head tube is too long......... can I cut down the head tube with a pipe cutter and re thread? I can not be the first person to want to do this......those springers are great! Does any one know the thread pitch so I can buy the correct die?

there are several different ones.. park tool sells them and they are on evilbay too. you can also cut a chunk out the middle and re weld it.. saves from buying the die. :roll:

It takes a 1" X 24 tpi die to thread most older forks. You can get one from Enco. Gary

fine or course thread?.......I would think fine.

The 24 tpi = 24 teeth per inch so the die is 1" (dia) by 24 tpi. hope that helps.
