The dual-sprocket rear hub (eg from Currie) is one kind of motor kit, yes.

There are also kits that come with a complete front or rear wheel with hub motor, and kits that drive the existing chain near or at the bottom bracket.

Having owned a dual-sprocket gearhead-motor bike I'd recommend going for a brushless motor if you can afford it, gearhead motors are sooo noisy.

this is what they give you when you buy the kit. left pic is the pieces you use to mount the cog on the left side and bolt it tight. piece in 3rds is metal
