Hi everyone, this is my first post on the forum. After looking into making a board track racer for a very long time ive decided to start mine. This is my first motorized bike build but I have built a board track racer before. My first board track racer I made from cardboard and fibreglass model of a 1912 Harley Davidson .

I made a replica of the transport crate for it too be displayed in.

but after i made the Harley i really wanted to build the real thing and this is what ive got so far.It going to be a 1911 Indian single, any advice from anyone whos built one before would be much appreciated :)

Ive been working on making the motor look nice by adding detail parts i made a fake magneto to fill up the space in the frame.Im trying to make it look as close to original as i can get but i think the magneto came out quite nice

I put the magneto on a little stand next to the engine too look as if its actualy connected. I also made a oil tank to fill the other space

Im going to cut of all the fins on the fly wheel to make the side of the motor look cleaner and more the like it should
heres the picture im using to get an idea of how it should look in the end

Very cool, I did not know this site had a motorized section. I am trying to do a bike in the build off section with a briggs 2 hp I will be watching your thread. Nice job!

Ive went to the beaulieu auto jumble and picked up a few new parts that I was looking for. I managed to find a beautiful brooks leather saddle witch should look great once ive put some leather softener on it. I also got some new bars, some white pedals white grips and some little detail parts like a oiler.

all the new parts put on the bike

On a stationary engine you need forced air cooling with a fan and a shroud, on a motorbike there is usually enough air flowing past the engine too cool it. Its still possible that it may eventually run hot especially around the exhaust since its on the back and out of the flow of air, but a bike like this probably isn't run continuously for very long.

Sooo sweet! I think I may be using the same engine. I am doing a 2 hp Briggs B6 S (I think mine is a 1952 Briggs) and the same kinda set up. My frame is open enough I am not doing frame modifications. I am also going to do the fill around the engine mount and frame that you have (two 1/8" steel plate cnc cut and bolts between). I am going to try to attempt to make it the full engine mount since I am not welding the engine mount plate to the frame. I have seen it done somewhere. I was thinking of getting rid of the fins on the flywheel and removing the shroud as well. Heat has been my concern since I am in AZ and I plan on riding it in 100+ temps from time to time. Once you get it running let us know how the cooling goes. I agree that 25 - 35 mph does give some wind to cool.

I made some racing numbers (or at least that's what i keep calling them) i chose 11 beacuse im basing the bike of a 1911 indian. I also added a few extra details to the engine:A fake sight glass, some extra copper pipes from the oil tank and attached the oiler to the tank.

Awesome! Just started my build with the same engine, cool to see how others are adapting it. I'm also glad to see that other people like to cut off the front plate that's cast onto the fins, seems like it's the way to go if not using the shroud! Like Moisstink said, if you get to running this before we do, let us know it goes! I also would like my fins gone, but I'm not sure if it would disrupt the balance of it enough to matter. One of the fins on mine is chipped anyway so I almost don't care enough not to cut them since it's probably not balanced anymore! Anyway, keep it up.

Just something ive been working on to wear when i ride the bike at shows. A replica of one of the Indian race sweaters that they wore when riding at events. Im also going to do the black and white version but i haven't yet got anything to do the letters with.

This build is coming out great, I love the way you've filled in the spaces around the motor. Once everything is painted it'll blend together well. It really helps disguise the origin of the motor until you start looking closer. That helmet was a great find too!

Ive started work on the tank and ive got some mud guards for the wheels and ive mocked up how the pedals wiill look :)

I started making the tank. Ive finished one side and I think it came out pritty good for a first attempt. Im going to put a smaller tank inside this one so it wont need to hold as much fuel.
